Day 18 - Silver City Layover

What a wonderful feeling to sleep in to 0730 and have nothing on the agenda. Silver City is over a mile high, so I broke out the long pants for the first time this vacation.

After a leisurely breakfast we rented a couple of cars and drove 1 1/2 hours North to the Gila Cliff Dwellings national monument. The dwellings were wonderfully preserved and accessible. I have some photos which of course do not do justice to serenity of the location along the Gila river oasis.

Five of the us stopped on the way home at the hot spring and soaked our weary bodies. This experience does make me want to return to the area to Cycle and perhaps backpack in the Gila Wilderness.

Oh, I forgot to add that we went out for Chili Relleno last night. I could not decide the basic question of red or green sauce, so I had both. Yum!!!
