Fort Davis, TX (layover day)

It is remarkable how simple things like sleeping until the sun rises,  a bottomless cup of coffee at a coffee shop and cleaning you bike on a day you don't need to ride anywhere makes a Layover day a wonderful day.  This ride makes life pretty simple.

I have a few pictures of the group at rest.

I walked to the Fort Davis National Historic site and had a wonderful experience.   The fort was established to guard the San Antonio to El Paso trail.  The degree of preservation and restoration was remarkable.   It felt like you were part of the old West.  The setting is fantastic.

Tonight I am cooking and have plans to rustle up some steaks and potatoes.

  1. Hi Dick,
Enjoying all your posts. It is a great adventure and is fun to follow along. We too recently saw a snake biking ---I thought it might have been a rattlesnake also from the scream that Lynn let out....but it is was a garter snake (also dead)
